Shade

Smoke Tangle is the most sculptural piece we make. The column is smoked grey, darkest at the top and lifting towards the base, and scattered with fine seed bubbles.

Around it, threads of clear glass are trailed by hand while both are hot — looping over the corners, crossing, doubling back. The pattern is drawn once, in a few seconds, and can never be drawn the same way again. Against a black shade it is graphic; under ivory it softens almost to smoke.
