Polish glass, signed at last.
BABILAM was founded to give a quiet tradition the recognition it has always deserved — and to make lamps that carry the hand that made them.
I grew up close to Poland's glass tradition — workshops where skill passed from one pair of hands to the next, and where a craftsman could read the temperature of glass by its colour.
I also watched that tradition become invisible. Polish glassmakers have long supplied their skill to others, while the name on the finished piece belonged to someone else. The craft survived; the credit did not.
BABILAM began with a simple question: what happens when you give that skill a name of its own, pair it with precise brass hardware, and bring the result directly to the designers and collectors who will value it?
The answer is in our collection. Lamps that start as fire and end as light. Objects that show the marks of the hands that made them, and that will still matter in fifty years because they were made to last that long.

Four stages. Every piece.
Nothing is moulded, nothing is corrected afterwards. What leaves the furnace is what you receive.
Fire
Glass is gathered from the furnace and worked while it glows. There are only minutes before it sets.
Form
The column is shaped and its skin drawn, struck, folded or threaded with clear glass — by hand, once.
Brass
Brushed brass caps and stems are fitted to each column so that metal and glass meet with precision.
Time
Eight to twelve weeks from order to dispatch. Each lamp is checked, photographed and packed by hand.
Three principles.
Craft over commodity
We make objects that take weeks, not minutes, formed by people who have spent years learning to read hot glass.
Imperfection is signature
Seed bubbles, ripples and asymmetry are not defects. They are proof that a hand, not a machine, made the piece.
Made to stay
Solid glass and brass, repairable fittings, replaceable shades. A BABILAM lamp is meant to outlive trends — and us.
